In the 100m sprint she ran at a terrific pace finishing in a tight race with a time of 13.88sec.

Although Ameena doesn’t have the biggest physique, her technique to shot put a 3kg put 9.64m is fantastic.

On her final event, the long jump, Ameena jumped 4.34m scoring her a 4th placing.

Congratulations Ameena on these fabulous results. Your hard work and dedication to training are paying off.

Athletics Carnival 2017

On Monday 23rd October, Sirius College hosted the annual athletics carnival held at Keilor Athletics Track. It was great to see the four Houses Aquila, Delphinus, Lacerta and Major cheering and supporting the competitive athletes.

Students represented their colour by competing across an array of events, consisting of sprints, relays, shot put, discus, long jump, high jump and novelty activities.

We introduced bubble soccer for the first time, which was a big hit on the day, with many students finding this both fun and tiring.

Throughout the day we witnessed many close races, long throws and jumps and a lot of healthy competition.

The comradery, sportsmanship and fun displayed across year groups and Houses on the day was a great testament to the Sirius spirit!

We couldn’t have asked for a better day, filled with sunshine and excited students. Some of our Year 12s even came and celebrated their final sports day.

The Tug-of-war competition was a great ending to the day, bringing out fierce rivalry amongst the Houses.

Delphinus took out the Cheer Competition winning with sneaky cheer leading handstands incorporated into their performance and taking a narrow win away from Major House.

Each house competed competitively throughout the day. However, Aquila were proclaimed the overall winners – for the fourth year in a row!

Thank you to all staff for their efforts and enthusiasm on the day.

Congratulations to all students on a wonderful day!
